New Partnership Continues Pitt's Turn Toward Commercializing Research

"An Ohio drug investment and development firm is partnering with the University of Pittsburgh to commercialize therapies targeting cancer and autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. Orange Grove Bio LLC of Cincinnati will provide both investment and commercialization expertise to translate Pitt’s lab research into medicines and start-up biotech companies, part of the university’s continuing pivot toward generating revenue from basic research that began under Chancellor Patrick Gallagher. The Orange Grove partnership, which will include internships for Pitt’s doctoral students, reflects a shift in how new drugs are developed, according to Joe Havrilla, associate vice chancellor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, a newly created position at the university."
